Struggling with Sensitive Skin? Try these Seven Easy Steps for Daily Sensitive Face Care

Sensitive skin is something that many women struggle with. It is characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin that could also lead to more serious conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

If you suffer from sensitive skin, you’ll know how difficult it can be to deal with it in a daily life. That’s why you try these six steps, to ensure that you have the best skin you could possibly have!

  1. Cleanse Gently

Clean your face first thing in the morning after you shower — gently! Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, roughly rubbing a cleanser on your face will do you more harm than good.

Use a cotton pad or ball and rub the cleanser into your face using gentle circular motions. This will prevent any damage to your skin. Preferably use micellar water or wipes cleansers.

You should also pay careful attention to the ingredients in the cleanser you’re using. Hypoallergenic and fragrance-free products work fine, but if you want to make sure that your skin is getting the best treatment possible, opt for cleansers using mostly natural ingredients.

A lotion or water based cleanser will work best since it will hydrate your skin while cleansing it. It’s better to steer away from soap cleansers, since they leave the skin squeaky clean, which is something to avoid if you have dry, sensitive skin.

Try to avoid cleansers containing exfoliating beads or natural exfoliating scrubs all-together. The sharp edges of the exfoliating components can cause micro-tears on the skin’s surface, leading to inflammation.

  1. Apply Toner

Many women skip straight from cleansing to moisturizing, but they’re missing a crucial part of what creates glowing skin.

Your toner should be something natural, preferably rose water. Rose water works wonders to hydrate and soothe skin. Face skin will especially benefit from using rose water!

Not only does this divine toner smell amazing, but it has anti-inflammatory properties. If you struggle with red patches, this is what you want to use. It has been used as a traditional remedy for skin conditions like eczema for centuries.

Furthermore, it combats acne. People who have sensitive skin and acne often find themselves in a tough situation, since many acne products are formulated for people with oily skin.

These acne prone products will make dry skin even more parched and terribly irritated. With rose water, you can treat acne and moisturize your face all at once.

If you have acne scars, don’t worry. Rose water has historically been used to treat scars and burns effectively, making it a great option for acne-prone women.

Rose water can be found in most cosmetic stores, but it can also easily be made at home if you can’t find it somewhere near you. All you’ll need is roses free of pesticides and chemicals and follow one of the easy tutorials you can find online.

  1. Apply Day Moisturizer

Once again, you have to be discerning about the ingredients present in your moisturizer. Hunt around for a face cream that has been enriched with some kind of oil, preferably coconut or Vitamin E.

There are certain oils that you want to avoid, such as tea tree oil, because they are usually more suited to those with oily skin, since they are slightly drying.

  1. Apply Sunscreen

This step is crucial if you want your skin to improve. Not only will this prevent premature wrinkles, but it will also prevent sun damage from worsening your problem areas.

Try to use SPF 30, since this will adequately block out most of the UV rays without being too heavy on the skin. If you wear makeup that already has SPF benefits, you can skip this step.

Otherwise, apply your makeup (if you wear any) after the sunscreen has settled into your skin.

When you sleep your skin needs to be clean and moisturized for recovering, therefore, try not to skip your night cream or lotion routine since those products help your skin be healthy and renewed. This also applies when your night creams or lotions have to have hypoallergenic, fragrance-free ingredients and natural components.

  1. Healthy Daily Routine

If you want healthy skin, try to exercise. Even cardio of only a 10 minutes will get the blood flowing, making your skin appear healthier.

Drink a lot of water. The more water you drink the more hydrated and clear your skin will be. There’s no better way to get your skin healthy. To kick it up a notch, add some slices of lemon, cucumber and mint to a water pitcher and drink it throughout the day.

If you are not a fan of natural water – drink tea! If you’re craving something with more flavor than water, enjoy a cup of tea. Although there isn’t a tea that is bad for you, some teas are better than others. A cup of green tea with honey instead of sugar will do more for your skin than a sugary cup of coffee.

Wear makeup sparsely. Giving your skin time to breathe will do wonders for your appearance, since it absorbs a lot of the products that you place on your skin daily.

Minimize touching your face. Not only can this cause acne, but the bacteria on your hands can lead to inflammation.
