I’m in love with this new trend of having multiple ear piercings! Yes, ladies I’m talking about layering, arranging, and stacking your earrings in totally different and unique ways. The thing that I love the most is having a lot of options to choose from studs, drops, clusters, cuffs, to crawlers and hoops. Moreover, it also has so many different designs, colours, gems, and materials. These earrings are so trendy and cute and it will suit your ears beautifully!

Curated ear

There is a term for this multiple piercing that is called “Curated ear” which means multiple piercings on the ear that are artfully created and arranged with different types of jewellery. Curated ear is combined and placed altogether by the piercer in order to aesthetically adorn or decorate the ear, based on people’s asymmetric features. As a result, the curated ear reinforces people’s beauty through layering jewellery on the ear.

Ageless Trend

“While the look had grown with trendy 20-somethings, women in their late 30s and 40s dominating it. Sporting sophisticated curations comprising two or more piercings placed anywhere from the lobe to the helix , the ‘midlife and multi-pierced’ are on the rise.

‘Mid 30s to 40s is a key demographic and represents about 50 per cent of our clientele,’ says Maria Tash, founder of the luxury piercing studio which helped the multi piercing trend take off, and who counts Gwyneth Paltrow, 47, and Uma Thurman, 49, among her celebrity fans.” (source: You Magazine)

In other words multiple ear piercings have no age limit for people who want to be trendy and fashionable. Further, you can use your ear as a canvas for expressing your own creativity and style!

Ear Piercing Ideas

The popular ear piercings are: lobes, outer helix (upper cartilage of the ear), tragus (part immediately in front of the ear canal), conch and high conch (inner part of the ear), and forward helix (cartilage above the ear canal) and daith (a hoop of skin in the inner ear).

When in doubt you can use an online tool by Otiumberg, that helps you to have a view of your desired look before you pierce your ear for real.

There is a lot of combinations that you can make when you’re putting together an earring mix and your overall fashion statement. Consider spacing and diversity of the design as one example. Further, if you have several ear piercings, opt for delicate pieces and if you only have a single piercing, go for an ear crawler.

Speaking of delicate, when I got my last four piercings, I would shriek every time people hugged me or when I used the phone. It has been a torment sometimes including sleeping, because I’m a side sleeper and had to learn to sleep on my back, but don’t worry it will pass. Remember they look gorgeous and it’s worth all the inconvenient time!

Recently, I went to Mejuri piercing studio where you can receive a complimentary lobe piercing with the purchase of a 14k gold stud. They hold this event one weekend per month. It seems ear piercings have become more socially acceptable – they’re a bit rebellious, but not too much!

Aftercare

Keep in mind that everyone’s anatomy is different, so even though a conch or helix hoop might look good on your friend, it might not work with your ear shape. That’s why it’s important to go to an experienced piercer who can guide you — do your research first. For instance, check the piercer’s portfolio and, if you don’t see aesthetic in their work, it may not be a fit!

In piercing aftercare everyone’s healing process is different so make sure to follow rules of aftercare from your piercer. This may include a sea salt soak two times per day, keeping your piercings clean; not touching it and not tightening your jewelry, etc.

It’s also best not to have more than three piercings done at a time in order for the body to recover and the piercings to heal effectively. Pay attention to your piercings and if any get infected or your earlobe is swollen, please go to see your doctor; better safe than sorry.

Sometimes people have allergies or may be sensitive to certain metals. To this, try to only pierce with completely nickel-free earrings. More, some studios pierce with titanium based products similar to that used in surgical procedures which has low nickel content.

Furthermore, never get pierced with silver because it oxidizes and increases the risk of infection and allergic reactions. If you’ve ever reacted to jewellery or watches, please get assessed before piercing.

Trendy Earrings Brands

Jewellery is so much nicer than it used to be! It has become fine and charming. Earrings are within the fastest-growing categories of jewellery and consumers prefer mismatched earrings for multiple piercings. More, there is a trend for asymmetric piercings such as three in one ear or five in the other; personalized is now the key. More, you can play with many different options with your inspiration and create something that represents your identity.

Jewelry brands are creating tiny studs in all shapes and sizes specifically made for building your very own earring stack. Picking the right jewellery for your piercings is just as important as the piercer. As a suggestion, try to pick jewellery pieces that complement each other. That doesn’t mean they all need to be the same material or style —You can mix gemstones; just make sure the colours work together. Also, you can use a combination of tiny studs and delicate hoops: diamond stud earrings are popular. For several piercings, try delicate chains, bars and hoops!

  1. I actually love all of these looks, and especially all that gold!!! But for me personally, I have a hard time keeping up with my two piercings. Maybe later when I have more time. I do love the idea of coordinating earrings on my whole ear.

  2. Once upon a time I had 4 holes in my left ear (3 in my lobe, one in my cartilage) and 3 in my right (lobe). I’ve since let all but 1 hold in each close, mostly because I have tiny lobes and any time I wore more than one earring it looked like one huge earring. Makes me sad because these are really pretty looks!

    1. Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. Why you don’t try to mixed tiny studs with tiny hoops os huggies? I think will help to see all earring separately instead all together and make them look one big earring.

  3. I love all of these looks and the multiple piercings look so good! My daughter wants to get more…some near the top in the cartridge and I will go with her for that one It does look so cool 🙂

  4. I love wearing earrings and I think these are quite interesting trends. Although, I don’t like pircing my ears too much and I prefer to wear just one pair at a time. 🙂

  5. I love the concept of a variety of ear piercings. I still haven’t gotten my ears pierced yet, but these looks make me really want to!

  6. Ear piercing has become very popular and multiple piercings are more widely accepted. I have my ears pierced but am not brave enough to do any more, although I admire them on other people.

  7. I think having multiple earrings in one ear is so cute! But I’m too scared to get more holes, so I just bought some clip on ones that makes it look like I have multiples.

    1. Hey Jo, it’s true we have the same theme blog!! 😀 . I honestly have zero tolerance to pain, and I get super anxious when I have to deal with needles. One thing that I’ve learned getting my piercings (I have three in each ear now, and when I was little girl I got “re’pierced” twice, cause first time I let them close, furthermore I used to have also one in my nose, in a way is a rebel side of my I guess) is that you need to research where are you getting your piercing and the piercer. Keep in mind the little cuties earrings that are selling now and they are so gorgeous in order to give courage. When you find a piercer tell him/her that you are super nervous etc. They will help you to explain the process and they will know that you need an extra “care”.
If you decided to get the piercing in the future, please share a photo we us.!!!😉

  8. Those are various ways of doing it. I can see many women who’s doing this and honestly it looks cool. More piercings more fun.
